The Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand
in cooporation with the American College of Surgeons has
established the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course
in Thailand since 2003. Currently, there are 25 ATLS courses
conducting each year. The Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital
is one of the training centers which operate 3 courses a
year. With the facilities of the ThaiGerman Multidisciplinary
Endoscopic Training Center (TG-MET Center), students can
practice common surgical procedures such as Crico thyroidotomy,
Intercostal drainage, Pericardiocentesis and Diagnostic
peritoneal lavage.
In addition to ATLS course, we also organize
the Definitive Surgical Trauma Care (DSTC) course for trauma
surgeons. Students have to perform the operations for injuries
in the different parts of the body such as cardiac injury,
bowel injury or great vessel injury, etc. All these major
operations were practiced successfully in the animal LAB.
In this auspicious occasion, I would like
to express my deep appreciation for the support of the TG-MET
Center.
